I've been talking a lot about copper bullion lately! I recently
featured two awesome interviews, one with copper bullion producer
Market Harmony and the other with copper store
The Copper Cave. Additionally, I have been
updating my review of Jetco Metals to
include many images of my recently purchased copper bullion bars. While my core metals position is in gold bullion
(hence the name of the site) followed by silver bullion, copper bullion has a special place in my portfolio and I'm
excited about its growing popularity. Due to the lack of information on the Internet about copper bullion, I have taken
on the task of providing as much cutting edge information about copper bullion as possible, a new and exciting complementary
investment option for long time gold and silver bugs. Today, I am extremely excited to be reviewing the newest copper
bullion mint on the block: Tacoma Copper.
Tacoma Copper Has Taken The Industry By Storm
You may have seen their copper bullion bars on eBay.
I sure have! A few months ago I started seeing these really large and shiny copper bullion bars showing up. They were available
for reasonable prices, had a highly shiny mirror-like finish, and were available in a variety of really large sizes (5 pound, 5 kilo,
10 kilo, and even 15 kilo). I was immediately hooked on Tacoma Copper's impressive copper ingot lineup. The industry has
really matured over the last year or so with producers like
Jetco Metals,
E Cohen Mint,
The Metal Mint, and
Market Harmony pushing the envelope with better and better
copper bars. Tacoma Copper has taken the industry by storm and is right at home amongst all of these impressive big names in
copper bullion.
Mirror-Like Copper Bars
Tacoma Copper's trademark is their mirror-like finish. I don't know how they do it! The bars are highly polished and reflective,
unlike anything I have seen. It must take an extremely long time to produce each bar, they are all truly works of art. Throughout
this article you will notice pictures of my 5 pound copper bar from Tacoma Copper. I'm not a professional photographer and
it took me a while to get good images because my bar is so reflective that the flash would always be giving me trouble. I
was finally able to get some great images and my bar is truly as impressive as the images indicate. It's like looking at an almost
water-like copper mirror.
Large Copper Bullion Bars
Five pounds is a lot of weight. The heft of my 5 pound Tacoma copper bullion bar is quite impressive. The interesting part: 5 pounds
is their smallest copper bullion bar! How about that! Tacoma copper also offers 5 kilo (approximately 11 pounds), 10 kilo (approximately
22 pounds), and 15 kilo (approximately 33 pounds) copper bars. Currently, Jetco USA offers a 10 kilo bar and The Metal Mint also offers
a 10 kilo bar. As of today (April 13, 2009), Tacoma Copper offers the largest investment grade copper bullion bar in the industry,
weighing in at 15 kilos.
Tacoma Copper Bullion Bars Are Practical
An important part of investing in copper bullion bars is storage. You want to be able to stack the bars nicely. The reason I particularly
like Tacoma bars is they are very practical size-wise. My five pound bar is built in a way that I could very easily stack them in the
corner. Tacoma Copper offers an excellent way to hoard and stockpile copper bullion, a great plan in my opinion during our uncertain
economic times.
Tacoma Copper Offers Premium Investment Grade Copper Bars
There are many ways to accumulate copper. One of the best ways, in my opinion, is buying premium investment grade ingots. What do I mean
by "investment grade"? I'm basically talking about copper bars that are made to the highest degree of perfection, bars that
look like they are ready for delivery to a very picky investment house client. Tacoma Copper definitely gets high marks on the professional
appearance of their bars. These bars are works of perfection and surpass the investment grade status.
My Personal Experience Buying My 5 Pound Copper Bar From Tacoma Copper
To the right is a neat image of my 5 pound copper bar from Tacoma Copper. Below, you can see three additional pictures. I had an absolutely
super experience buying my copper ingot. After placing my order through eBay's Buy It Now feature, my bar arrived quite quickly (in about
1-1.5 weeks) via USPS Priority Mail. Excitingly, my bar was cheap (only $60 via Buy It Now on eBay) and the shipping was free! For a product
of this caliber, it's really amazing how little I paid when you compare to other top notch investment grade copper bars in the industry. I
was really happy how my bar arrived. Inside its USPS box, the bar was wrapped in many layers of bubble wrap. The bubble wrap actually took
a really long time to take off. When I finally got the bubble wrap off, I was amazed at the appearance of my bar, it actually shocked me
a bit. At that moment, I knew I would be a Tacoma Copper customer for life. I'm so excited that this company is just starting out and I know
they will be offering many more cool copper bars in the future. I'm going to keep my eyes open and will definitely post updates here about
my future purchases. My advice to you: Visit Tacoma Copper's website and
eBay Store and buy a bar yourself. You will not be disappointed!
